Welcome
to the "Andover Journal". Most of this is
actually a periodic journal of my life here in
Andover, Maine, something that my kids can read and see
pictures of to learn more about their roots and where I
grew up.
It has evolved into a little more than
that, because I know there
are other past Andover residents that have moved
elsewhere but still like to stay in touch. I felt it
would be nice to also include some of the
happenings, events, and local news to
help keep them up to date.
So the "Andover
Journal" has evolved into what you see now. Sort of
a resource center with links to historical information,
genealogy and whatever information I can think of that
will help people stay up to date or learn about our
small town Andover, Maine.
It is, however, still mostly what I started, and that's
a journal of my life here in Andover. So the things you
see are as seen through my eyes. Consequently it doesn't
begin to cover all the important events that transpire
in Andover, but just the ones I witness or know about.
Located in the
beautiful lush green forests and mountains of Western
Maine, Andover is a peaceful small community, where the
moose, deer, turkeys, and wildlife in general still
wander through the middle of town without much concern.
Great hunting, fishing, hiking, snowmobiling, and also
an ideal place for horse riding enthusiasts.
Population here as far as I
can tell is somewhere between 800-1000 people, and like
most small towns, everybody makes it their business to
know what everyone else is up to. Now this can be good
or bad depending on what your doing. As a kid growing up
it was hard to get by with much cause there seemed to be
eyes watching what you're doing. It's maybe not quite as
bad today. a lot of new people have moved into the town,
so not everyone knows everybody anymore.
If you ever want to get away from
it all, Andover is about as far away from it all as it
gets. People are friendly and the hospitality is great.
Come by and visit us if you get a chance.
If you or someone you
know used to live in Andover then feel free to send us
an email, sign our guestbook, and let us know how you're
doing. Maybe share a story or 2 with us.
P.S. You better have a good sense
of humor. A lot of the non essential stories and info.
that I put on this site may stretch the boundaries of
fact. We do tend to be people who believe that each time
you tell a story, it ought to be a little bit better
than the last time you told it. It's just like anything
else in life, the more you do it the better you should
get at it. I hope you enjoy visiting our website. Thanks
for stopping by, and please come again.
